DNS, outgoing mail

Hello, i was just wondering if this is a network, pix configuration (501) issue. The limit my company can send an attachment through our mail website is 20MB. But using outlook express we are unable to send more than 1MB thru the OE. Could this be a pix/router problem?

Can a pix/router act as a DNS server.

Thanks

Daniel

Re: DNS, outgoing mail

Hi Daniel,

PIX cannot limit attachment size in your email. It can only limit connection to a host. For router, it can limit or control bandwidth usage for selected traffic, e.g smtp, http, but not the attachment size.

PIX/Router cannot act as DNS server. The DNS configuration or parameter you see in both equipments are meant for their own use.

BTW, what's your email sending option?

- Go to Tools - Accounts.

- Select 'Mail' tab, and click on your email account.

- Click the 'Propoerties', and select the 'Advanced' tab.

- Make sure the option under 'sending' (Break apart messages larger than...) should not be set.

Rgds,

AK
