DNS to certain IP range on internal network not resolving?

Hello, I'm trying to find what is causing VPN users to not be able to connect to their PC name via Remote Desktop by PC name. They are using DHCP internally via the PIX and when there IP changes they have to know what it changed to to connect rather than just using their PC name. I'm sure that there is a ACL or NAT rule causing this but I can't figure out what and how to fix it. I have attached the config.

Please advise!

Thank you!

Jason

Re: DNS to certain IP range on internal network not resolving?

Hi,

As cisco Firewall is only providing the DHCP services not the WINS/DNS Service which are responsible for name resolutions. SO In your case, PIX can't help you in the case of ip changed. On windows client you can use issue following command to start connecting the system via name even the ip address has changed.

nbtstat -r

nbtstat -an REMOTEPCNAME

Thanks,

Mustafa
