Exporting Log Files to a Remote FTP Server

Is there any side impact if I'm exporting log files to a remote FTP server ? Is the curent data still be insert to the oracle database ?

is it possible to have this 2 mechanism (exporting logfiles to FTP server & store the alarm into oracle database) at the same time?

Re: Exporting Log Files to a Remote FTP Server

Cisco created scripts do not support both FTPing the files and loading them into an Oracle Database.

1) Take the 2 load_run scripts and attempt to combine the 2 scripts into a single script.

NOTE: This would be a user customized script, os Cisco would only assist in verifying that the script is executed at the appropriate times, and not debugging any scripting problems that result.

2) Load the alarms into the Oracle Database on the director, and instead of FTPing the files from the director, configure the sensors to FTP the files to the remote FTP server. The FTP server would be archiving the sensors log files instead of the director's log files. This is supported in version 2.5(1)S0 and later of the sensor appliance. There is a ftp bug in the IDSM which will be fixed in the next major version.
