Fail Back

Hi,

I just was wondering if it is a "recommended" approach for PIX firewall to fail back to primary (forcing it manually) after a failover to secondary unit has been occured.

I know that based on PIX documentations it is not necessary but I have heard that it's been used as a policy in some places ...

Thanks,

Ali

There's no real recommended policy for this. The secondary will happily run fine in the event of a failover, so there's really no need to make the primary the active one again. I've seen plenty of companies that leave them as is, and I've seen plenty of companies that always investigate the cause and then after resolving any problems, make the primary the active after hours.

It's really up to you.
