Failover across networks

Is there a way to create a failover from my pix 515 on 10.171 network to a PIX 515 on a 10.172 network? They are in 2 diff locations (NYC & Chicago) I currently have to change my default route on my core router to point to the PIX that is working. Can this be done dynamically?
