Failover and route assignments

Dear ALL,

I'm going to implement stateful failover using two PIX 515E UR + FO.

Primary's outside will be assigned as 192.168.0.1 and secondary's outside will be 192.168.0.2 and

both configuration will contain route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.100.1

What I'd like to know is, have the default router (192.168.100.1) to route traffic to 192.168.0.1 that is the outside address of primary?

So, if primary goes down, does secondary's outside take 192.168.0.1 as address ?

Hi Alberto,

You are right .

Point the route to the Primary Pix ,In failover pix uses the IP adress of primary unit and it swaps the IP address and MAC of the primary if the failover occur.
