Failover requirements question

We currently have a PIX 515 that we purchased last year. Our business has grown to the point where we are now requiring redundancy in our gateway PIX solution so we need to purchase another PIX 515 to put in failover mode. However the 515 has been replaced with the 515E. The 515 has the same amount of RAM and Flash memory as the 515E model, will failover work properly between the two? Or would we be better off getting a refurbished failover model of the standard 515. And is Cisco still selling the Restricted to Unrestricted upgrade for the standard 515 since we need UR to use failover. Thanks.

The answer to your question is no you can not use the older 515 with the new 515e for failover.

The PIX 515, PIX 515E, PIX 525, and PIX 535 support failover when used in an identically matching failover pair. For example, a pair of identical PIX 515Es will support failover, but not a mixed pair of a PIX 515 and a PIX 515E. The primary unit in the failover pair must have a Unrestricted (UR) license.
