I'm looking for information on the command "monitor session servicemodule" to no avail. We have a customer with a 6500, a FWSM and a NAM who uses WCCP to redirect HTTP traffic to a Content Engine. Without the previous command in the 6500, WCCP does not work for VLANs behind the FWSM, but it does for others.
Can you point me to any document on the requirements for WCCP to work with the FWSM?
I would personally advice you that WCCP through a firewall is not recommended. You can try out this option. But I am sure Cisco is not recommending this option. Can you explain your customer about this non recommendation and if possible change the topology?.
WCCP (Cisco developed) uses inbound redirection on the interfaces to take http/https/ftp, etc packets and send them to the
caching device. The caching device in turn will make the request for the client to the servers.
