global (outside) IP same as outside interface IP?

Is it possible somehow to NAT to the outside interface IP of the PIX firewall? I've tried setting global (outside) 1 IP like outside interface, but I get this error message: "Start and end addresses overlap with outside interface address"

My customer only have 1 IP-address available, so my PIX config really depends on this issue...

Thanks in advance,

I forgot to mention that I've tried "global (outside) 1 interface". The error message I get is "Type help or ? for a list of commands".

I have a pile of Cisco PIX 501 sw 6.1(3).

Re: global (outside) IP same as outside interface IP?

Hi,

Ensure you have the following lines in, before you attempt the global command.

ip address outside 192.150.49.1 -> Gives the outside interface an address

nat (inside) 1 0 0 -> This line allows all addresses on the inside, or whatever you want to name it, to NAT (when allowed by an access-list).

global (outside) 1 interface -> This tells the Firewall to NAT using only the outside interface address.

Hope this helps :-)
