Got Win 2K & XP login problem with VPN client installed

Dear All,

Does anyone have experience problem as describe below ?

1. VPN3000 (Unity) Client installed on the PC running Win 2K or Win XP

2. The PCs have Ethernet NIC installed

3. The PCs join Windows Domain with a PDC on the other network segment.

Problem: Couldn`t login to the NT Domain even if the VPN Client is not actively running on that PC (the PC has WINS server pointed to the PDC in the other segment). "NetBIOS over TCP/IP" is installed on the PC also.

Funny thing is if we disable "Deterministic Network Enchancer" from Ethernet NIC`s properties , the PC doesn`t have problem to authenticate and be able to login to the NT Domain.

Any thought ?

Regards,

Engel

Re: Got Win 2K & XP login problem with VPN client installed

I think you're probably going to need to analyze some sniffer traces on the network to determine if the NetBios traffic is actually leaving the PC and if so, if it's getting to the PDC. It sounds like it's something with the IP stack on the client machines though but I've never come across this issue. Has anyone else out there seen this?
