GPRS Hardware compatibility with VPN Client - Ericsson GC750
Prior to testing the below configuration, a Nokia GPRS Phone connected via bluetooth to the Client works fine using the same VPN Client Connection Entry
Client OS = Windows 2000, with latest Service Pack 3
Client VPN Version = 4.0.2 (A)
VPNC 3060 version = 4.0
Client Hardware = Ericsson GC75 PCMCIA (using latest win2k drivers)
With this clent configuration, there is intermittent drop outs of the VPN Conenction, once established. The client connects, authenticates and completes Phase 2 pf the tunnel establishment, but the the logs on the VPNC3060 say that the disconnect was due to a "User Requested" reason after 1:58 seconds !!! Has anyone seen this behaviour before and if so, is there a workaround ?
Re: GPRS Hardware compatibility with VPN Client - Ericsson GC750
The issue here is GPRS dialup environments requires multiple VPN client attempts for the tunnel to establish. Our normal behavior is to dial the RAS connection and then go to the next phase, which is IKE negotiations. But to resolve this issue, we will dial the RAS connection and then wait few seconds (user configured) before starting the IKE negotiations.
You can do this by modifying the vpnclient.ini file, this file is located in the installation directory
(generally "C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client"). Users will have to add another parameter under main as follows:
where x is in seconds. The default value is 0 seconds. If we do wait, the following
