We are planning to implement a GRE tunnel through Checkpoint firewall to support Multicast. Would like feedback on security issues and IDS we could use to mitigate risk

To mitigate some of your risks/issues, as long as you are running IPS 5.1, you can inspect inside of GRE tunnels.
