Help about IDS event notification features

We have IDS 4220 boxes with the new 3.1 software on them. Currently we are using the IDS Event View 3.1 also. What would be needed to be able to have certain events send email or pager notifications? It will have to be able to run on Windows 2000 server, not NT 4.

Thanks

Re: Help about IDS event notification features

IEV 3.1 does not support email and pager notifications.

For this functionality you would need to purchase one of the enterprise IDS management tools.

With your requirement of Windows 2000 Server, I would recommend looking into the Monitoring Center for Security. It is a new web based security monitoring tool that is intalled on a Windows 2000 machine.

It can receive IDS alarms from IDS sensors as well as syslog messages from Pix Firewalls. It can generate emails or execute customer created scripts (like pager notifications) when alarms meeting certain criteria are seen.

It is sold as part of the CiscoWorks VPN/Security Management Solution (VMS) version 2.1 which was released just about a month ago.

NOTE: Also included in VMS 2.1 is the new Management Center for IDS which is a web based tool for configuring IDS sensors.
