I have some problem with the HIDS on the notification via email. I configure the smtp and the Esmtp and username and password but still cannot work. The error statement are " Mail Server : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Domain : abc.com. Reciprient Email address : jasonwong@abc.com. 220 abc.com. ESMTP Sendmail 8.11.7+Sun/8.11.7, Sun, 25 May 2003 17:13:01 +0800(SGT) "

I still figure out what is going on.

As far as I know you have to have either CSPM or Unix Director to send email notifications , I haven't heard of IDS sending email

notifications itself. For this refer the following URL

Hi,

These are always hard to troubleshoot.

I would however begin by checking if the email is making it to the outbox of the smtp server? If it is then we know it is atleast making it out and HIDS is triggering the email notification correctly. BTW, why do you need username password. Are you authenticating outbound email?
