Hello,
i have the following configuration:
internal interface ip address statically assigned (valid ip from isp)
external interface ip address 192.168.0.4
access list to allow all, under 192.168.0.0 to 0.0.0.0 (outside), IP any.
PAT to translate 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 to external Interface IP.
I can ping my internal and external from within my intranet (LAN).
I configured a PC (win98) to use the PIX501 for internet access. The PC gateway is 192.168.0.4
When i ping an outside address (ie. www.yahoo.com), it timed out.
the PC could not surf the net. THe DNS server is working fine, because all conections to the outside can resolve back to an IP address.
I can not ping to a real IP outside, on the PIX using the external interface.
Any suggestions?

additional info.
I'm able to ping my immediate gateway (ISP internet gateway), on the PIX, on the outside interface.
I'm unable to ping immediate gateway, on the PIX, on the inside interface.

It would apear that you have your interfaces interchanged. The private address should be on the inside interface and the public on the outside, facing your ISP.
You will also need a default route (gateway) to your ISP.
route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 1

the first post was just a typo error.
I have a private IP on the inside (internal interface) and public IP on the outside(external interface facing my ISP).
