I want to setup VPN in Cat6500,do I have to have a VPN module?

I have a cat6500 with sup2 and msfc2 in Headquaters, I am going to setup 3 branch office which has a VPN connection to the cat6500.

As all the document I read, it looks VPN only can be configured with the VPN module in cat6500.

Can I configure the VPN(ipsec) without the VPN mdoule(it cost 50k)?

I called the Cisco presale prodcut service, they have answer for yes and no, they are not sure about that too.

I think you would need to have a VPN module on the 6500 to configure IPSec on it. This is because, the VPN module's implementation of VPN is generally the same as on Cisco routers other than the use of interface VLANs and some configuration guidelines that are specific to the VPN module.
