icmp redirects getting through?

I'm getting log entries in my firewall that look

like an ICMP redirect but:

1. I have an access list applied to the serial port on our internet router that should be preventing this (access-list 101 deny icmp any any

redirect)

2. sh access-lists does report matches on the deny redirect rule.

log error-

Mar 27 01:07:08.750 gw kernel: 226 IP packet dropped

(64.86.231.7->192.168.15.253: Protocol=ICMP[Redirect/1 gw=64.86.231.1] {Inner: 192.168.15.253->64.86.233.13: Protocol=TCP[??] Port 443->11428}):

ICMP Redirect (received on interface 192.168.15.253)

192.168.15.253 is the external NIC. 64.86.231.0 is in Kenya. I'm curious why these packets are getting past the router (1720, v12.1). Any ideas?

Re: icmp redirects getting through?

You should get your whole configuration and be prepared to do a debug icmp with a Cisco rep to determine where your ACL is failing.

Re: icmp redirects getting through?

hi,

are you sure that this message doesn't come from that router?

Bye,
