IDS 4.0 configuration backup

Can anyone give me some direction on how to backup the image/configuration on IDS 4.0 sensors. I have made a number of signature tuning changes, each sensor has different signature tuning parameters and I need to back that up, preferably automatically.

We are using the Ciscoworks2000 VMS MC to manage the sensors. What I am looking for is a backup were if I need to replace a sensor I can restore the new sensor to the same configuration.

Re: IDS 4.0 configuration backup

Ciscoworks2000 VMS MC should include functionality for archiving sensor configurations. There is a built-in capability in the sensor that allows you to store configurations. In the following example, we are going to store the configuration on a secure shell server at 10.10.10.10:

Step 1: trust the secure shell server

sensor# configure terminal

sensor# ssh host-key 10.10.10.10

MD5 fingerprint is BC:0B:B9:4D:A1:D0:D2:AF:25:B5:9A:39:7E:72:E9:3D

Bubble Babble is xidoh-hulag-haqyf-gizog-sopuk-folic-demyd-nyven-gucep-gyfor-poxyx

Would you like to add this to the known hosts table for this host?[yes]: yes

sensor# exit

Step 2: copy configuration to secure shell server

sensor# copy current-config scp://user@10.10.10.10/sensor.cfg

Password: ********

user@10.10.10.10's password:

current.cfg 100% 38KB 8.3MB/s 00:00

To restore the saved configuration, reverse the parameters:

sensor# copy scp://user@10.10.10.10/sensor.cfg current-config
