Dear Sir,We have a Cisco IDS 4230 with .outside ethernet interface connected to Internet and inside ethernet interface connected to internal network.
It was working fine till we upgraded the IOS (Sun kernel ios)
After upgrading the IOS of the IDS to 3.0 (SUN IOS) we are not able to ping the outside interface from from the outside world.
After upgrading the IOS is it the ICMP service gets disabled.
Shall we downgrade the IOS to old version (IOS related bug)
Kindly advice.

When you upgrade to 3.0 you have to switch the cables connected to the "inside" and "outside" interfaces. We had to switch the "inside" or switching interface to the on-board nic (Intel) due to some limitations of the nic in the pci slot (SMC)
Just swap the cables and it will work fine.
