IDS signurature update problem

Hello

when I enter the command

"upgrade ftp://(ftp server IP )/IDS-K9-sp-4.0-2-S42.rpm.pkg"

and key the right user account and password

then the ids show the follow message

Error: download file does not exist: /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/updates/IDS-K9-sp-4.0-2-S42.rpm.pkg

I do not understand what the message mean ?

Re: IDS signurature update problem

Hi,

The error message is not quite clear (slightly misleading), but seems like sensor is looking for the /IDS-K9-sp-4.0-2-S42.rpm.pkg file and unable to find it. Please check your ftp server setting (default directory) and see if its setup correctly and if the file is there.

Thanks,

Re: IDS signurature update problem

There are some known bugs with ftp updates (fixed in 4.1). Here are some workarounds:

- use scp or http as the file copy protocol

- create a service account, manually ftp the update file to the sensor, then issue

a cli ftp update command with the sensor's ip and the service account name
