Installation Hang-Up VPN 5

A professor at UC Santa Barbara, I downloaded the VPN client, V5, yesterday and tried to install it on Windows XP. It started to install, signaled only 3 seconds left, then hung up and wouldn't finish for several minutes. There was no error message, just an unfinished install. I tried to download again, but this time no install window appeared. I checked the add/remove tool in windows control panel, and no Cisco VPN was indicated; yet the programs in Start showed Cisco icons. I clicked on them, was informed that they would only work with installation. On my harddrive, there is a Cisco folder, with sub-folders.

What should I do? I can't remove the program by means of the control panel, but am reluctant to delete the Cisco folder on the harddrive in case it has already configured with other programs?
