IOS Firewall Feature Set VS SecureIDS and NetRanger

What different benefit between IOS Firewall Feature Set and other hardware solutions?

I consider if we use IOS Firewall Feature Set,we can protect our network security sufficiently...

But I cannot find measure of implementation it.

Please tell me usage guidelines this IOS and hardware.

Hi,

Are you referring to the IDS functionality contained in the IOS Firewall feature set?

If so, there are many advantages that you will have using our full blown CS IDS solution (hardware sensors & management console). Two noteworthy diffrences are as follows:

- The IDS functionality with the IOS FW feature supports a limited # of signatures (57) as compared to our full blown IDS solution (currently 300+ sigs.). This is due to the fact that the router on which they reside takes a performance hit as a result of supporting this functionality.

- the update cycle on the IOS based IDS product is relatively infrequent. The CS IDS (full blown) product is updated on a bimonthly basis and this frequency will be increased with the release of CS IDS 3.0 (in a month).
