IP Inspect

I'm looking for an explanation of this command. I'm struggling to find any info on the cisco website for this command.

Why would you want to inspect traffic?

What is it actually being inspected for?

Is the traffic denied or permitted if a protocol matches inspection?

Re: IP Inspect

It's like a limited (light) version of a stateful firewall. When configured, the router will dynamically update pre-configured access lists to allow traffic through a previously denied ACL, based on pre-configured inspections.

See CBAC for details on inspection. Try this link http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/110/32.html#intro

Hope this helps out.
