IPsec enable

I am a novice so bear with me. When I authenticate thru the cisco vpn and do a status command, it says IPsec is not active. How do I enable IPsec. I am patched to a Linksys hub which is connected to a Cisco 806 router which is connected to a cable modem. Where is IPsec set up at? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

There are two parts on this, the ipsec client which you have on your PC and the IPSec headend or server, which could be a router, a PIX or a VPN 3000.

You configure most things on the headend, and minimal group name/pw, connection details and username/password (if used) on the client.
