IPSec password decryption

Hi all,

I have access to a PIX firewall which was configured by another person months ago. I need to get the Preshared key from the configuration, but all what I can see is "***********" instead of the clear text password when using the "show configuration" command.

So, how can I get the preshared key from the configuration file? can I decrypt it?

Thanks in advance.

Re: IPSec password decryption

You have to sent the config with WRITE NET to a TFTP server then you will see the PreShared Key and user passwords in Clear text.

Re: IPSec password decryption

Command Reference:

write net [[server_ip]:[filename]]

TFTP Server can be downloaded from:
