Is L2TP/IPSec Site-to-Site VPN possible?

Want to setup a site-to-site VPN using a Microsoft ISA server on one end and a Cisco router on the other. Tried pure IPSec but failed and got some information at a discussion forum that Microsoft ISA does not support this setup.

Understand the ISA server has better support for L2TP/IPsec. Would like to give it a try.

Would appreciate any help.

L2TP with IPSEC is a remote access VPN protocl, can not use it to build up LAN to LAN tunnel with Cisco routers.

But there might be a very simple config to do it:

You can use PPTP (Microsoft build-in VPN client) connecting to our router.

Then use ICS (internet connection share) making all the PCs behind it sharing this PPTP connection to access remote network.

The best way is using IPSEC between each other as below: (It is more sure)

Just to share, we managed to setup a L2TP/IPSec site-to-site vpn with Microsoft ISA at both ends successfully. This left us pondering why Cisco doesn't support this sort of setup.

I managed to deploy a PURE IPSEC vpn between 2 sites. But does it work if using L2TP as an encapsulation protocol??????

Is it possible to use PPTP on the remote router to connect to the Windows PPTP server? But this time the remote router initiates the connection.
