ISDN Backup for VPN without dynamic Routing

Hello everybody,

i hope anybody here can help me.

i have two routers (see the attachmends)

which works fine with normal tunnel connection. Now, i have to configure an ISDN Backup for this tunnel but the customer wants no dynamic Routing.

What are the possibilities to configure an ISDN Backup?

Hi

You can create a primary GRE Tunnel over the primary link connected on the Ethernet and a secondary GRE tunnel over the BRI link.

You need to have keepalives set on the tunnel to make them down once the physical link goes down..

Instead of creating a secondary GRE tunnel over bri you can have simple BRI to trigger the isdn backup by mentioning it as backup interface under the primary gre tunnel.

The other option would be having object tracking feature configured on your routers to remove the primary route from the routing table so that your interesting traffic will trigger your isdn line..
