Limitation of VPN3000`s load-balancing

Dear All,

How many devices can be configured for load-balancing solutions ?

What is the upper limit ?

Can I assume if we configure 2 devices , the throughput will be200 MB, four devices`s throughput is 400 MB , etc ?

Any thoughts ?

Best Regards,

Engel

No, no, the traffic is not load-balanced amongst all concentrators in the group, only the connections are. For example, when you connect with a VPN client to the bundle address, the concentrators determine which concentrator is the most lightly loaded, your connection is then directed and completed with that concentrator. All traffic from then on goes between your client and that concentrator only, just like any normal connection. there is no increase in bandwidth with that connection.

As for how many devices you can use, we've tested successfully with 8, but there's no theoretical limit.

Thank you. My understanding from your explanation is that the VPN3K`s load balance concept is some kind of intelligent load-sharing.

Re: Limitation of VPN3000`s load-balancing

Just got some thoughts,

1. How the Cluster handle which member of VPN3K responsible for which VPN remote user ? Is it using a Master and Slaves concepts ?

I mean, there is one VPN3000 acts as a Master that controls all of jobs and has a table of connections. This table has a list of which VPN3000 responsible for which user`s vpn connection.

2. If one of the Concentrator in the cluster failed, what happen to the vpn connections currently terminated to the failed Concentrator? Does it fail-over to the other Concentrator transparent to the end-user ?

Best Regards,

Engel
