Local Authentication with Crypto Maps (PIX 6.2x) and VPN Client 3.x

I am attempting to setup local authentication on a PIX 6.2using the 3.x VPN client. I was able to setup PPTP in this method but when I try to setup authentication as "local" it tells me that I cannot do this. Is this possible? The reason I ask is that I am trying to use the Nortel client to attach to the PIX. The Nortel client requires that you enter a username and password in addition to the group ID.

Thanks in advance,

Chad

Re: Local Authentication with Crypto Maps (PIX 6.2x) and VPN Cli

Hi,

Current PIX codes do not support extended authentication using local database for IPSec clients. You will need a RADIUS or TACACS server.
