I just want to confirm the date that our MARS100 series systems running 4.x will stop receiving updates. For example when will we no longer receive updates to handle new Checkpoint, AV or ISS events sent to it?
I expect it will be like the IDS sensors. Officially, they're unsupported. It's just a WAG, but I expect it will be a situation similar to the IDS sensors. Officially unsupported, but the recent versions/patches can by applied to the EOL models. It's a bit of a risk to stay on those EOL models, since Cisco could theoretically pull the rug out from under you at any time.
Yeah, I saw that doc and wasn't too sure what no software updates meant for Apr 2009, as to me that's how you get new 3rd party support and sigs. Hmm, if you're right, another year of updates is no good, especially since I ordered one in October 07.
