MPLS and FWSM

Hi:

Currently I am considering a design with MPLS and FWSM, FWSM will use for static nat and PAT, is that possible FWSM supports MPLS VRF? like a PE router? so all hosts in a specific VRF will use FWSM as default gw to reach internet?

Thanks,

~mike

Re: MPLS and FWSM

Hi,

FWSM only support passing-through MPLS traffic, not participating in MPLS itself. The only protocol supported (participate) by FWSM is OSPF and RIP.

The passing-through MPLS traffic is supported in transparent firewall mode (under EtherType). If you allow MPLS traffic, ensure that Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) and Tag Distribution Protocol (TDP) TCP connections are established through the FWSM by configuring both MPLS routers connected to the FWSM to use the IP address on the FWSM interface as the router-id for LDP or TDP sessions.

Sample configuration:
