MTU > 1500 for PIX

Hi,

Is it possible to set the MTU for a PIX Ethernet interface to a value greater than 1500 ?

I know that it will allow me to do it in the PIX software but the documentation says that the Max. Value is 1500 for Ethernet Interfaces ?

Which one is True ? if i set it to 1700 bytes, will it actually be implemented by the Firewall OS ?

1500 is the ethernet standard maximum. Why do you want to do this?

Re: MTU > 1500 for PIX

We had this problem with a Microsoft Machine using >1500 bytes packets during Kerberos Authentication, which were getting to the Firewall (though an IPSec Tunnel) as fragmented. Since we don't allow fragmented packets, so the process was failing.

However it appears that upgrading W2k to SP4 will solve this problem, so hopefully i won't have to experiment with this.

Thanks,

Naman
