Is there a best practice doc that explains how best to deploy NAC? Also, is it possible to deploy the NAC agent remotely?

From my experience there are so many configurable parts and ways to approach NAC that it truly will depend on your situation. The best practice I can suggest is to read as many sources as possible. You may also want to check out the latest book on the NAC appliance from the Cisco Press:

Cisco NAC Appliance, Enforcing Host Security with Clean Access by Jamey Heary.
