Is there a way to point the PIX to a DNS server for name resolution. I understand that I can username/names commands to create a local name resolution table, but I'm hoping to use DNS. I'm hoping to use a host name rather than an IP address whenever I need to deny or permit access to a specific internet site via an access-list.
No, the PIX doesn't support this. You'll have to use the "name" command if you want to use names. I doubt the PIX will ever support this as it could be a security issue, if someone can change the DNS settings then effectively they can change the PIX access rules, not really something you want.
