NAT GLOBAL ADDRESSES

Hi,

I have defined a global address range and a PAT address for the NAT translations, so far when i view xlate translations I see the PAT address translating.

When would the other global adresses be used? I understand that PAt can carry out 64000 translations.

I am not sure, but if you are using an older version your PAT address should be the lowest IP address. Check your documentation to verify my statement

I am not sure why this happens and check the configuration for the global range.

As I understand the global range should get used up and then the PAT address will come into picture.

I am not sure why this is happening either. The global addresses are suppose to be used first. Try using the first available address in your range for the global and then last address for the PAT. Then do a clear xlate command. ie.

global (outside) 1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xx1 - xxx.xxx.xxx.xx4

global (outside) 1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xx5

Don't forget to do a clear xlate.
