NTP time sync fails

This may sound minor, but on my Cisco 3015 VPN Concentrator (running software 4.7), which has been up and running for almost a year now, NTP has never worked. I always get these error messages in the live event log:

51832 09/29/2005 12:44:16.080 SEV=4 GENERAL/2 RPT=4750

NTP time synchronization failed - The time could not be adjusted.

It doesn't matter what NTP server I use (tick.usno.navy.mil, etc) either by DNS name or by IP (it can resolve names - it will give a different error message if it can't resolve the NTP server by name), stratum1 or stratum2, I always get these errors - and the time does drift, slightly, of course.

This bugs me - I've setup time sync on my NetWare and AD servers without issue - and this should be easier - since the public interface on my VPN 3015 has no firewall to block traffic. On the off chance it was using the private interface I opened a port in the firewall for it to use NTP, too, but that didn't change the symptoms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bruce

Re: NTP time sync fails

Try to disable the ntp sync. And reenable it. This should sync up.

Re: NTP time sync fails

Good thought - I did that (entering a 0 in the sync frequency to disable it) and then enabled it again and that didn't change anything - same error message.

Thanks,

Bruce

Re: NTP time sync fails

Were you ever able to find a solution to this? I'm having the same problem.

Thanks,

Ben
