Off-line use of failover 515e

We currently have a pair of 515e's licensed as primary and failover units.

Ideally, we would like to be able to take the standby unit offline to test image upgrades, verify new configurations and to perform regression testing of fw policies.

Two questions:

1. Is it possible to upgrade the license of standby unit to permit this?

2. Licensed as a primary, can it still work as a failover?

Thanks, Steve
