Has anyone used a modem and telephone line with the IDS-4210 for out-of-band management?
Are there any special considerations? The IDS-4210 has a serial port in the rear and one more in the front. What is the serial port in the front? Can I use it to connect my modem?

Hi,
The following link will help.
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/csids/csids6/12216_02.htm#xtocid111583,
Note the modem setup procedures AND the BIOS setup. Make sure you have the modem plugged into the correct port on the sensor.
There's pictures of the sensor here
(http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/csids/sensor/7016_02.htm#xtocid1187311,
scroll up a little bit) which highlights the COM1 port to use.
Hope this helps.

I noticed that the 2nd link might be broken,
try this one

The COM1 port is on the rear of the chassis.
