Password recovery on PIX 515?

Hi!!

Does anyone know how to remove/clear the config on a pix 515 back to factory default without knowing any passwords. I've heard of rawrite which I doubt will help. I need a similar procedure to password recovery on switches and routers.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Password recovery on PIX 515?

download file npXX.bin, XX is the software version you are running on your FW. Reboot FW in monitor mode

and enter the parameters for

interface: interface 1

address :ipaddress_inside_pix interface

servers: address of tftp server

file:npXX.bin

tftp

the file will upload to pix and ask you if you want to remove the password, type yes

and reoboot.

You will know when the password has been reset by seeing the following in the config:

enable password 8Ry2YjIyt7RRXU24 encrypted

passwd 2KFQnbNIdI.2KYOU encrypted
