Dear All,

I have a PIX 515e with os version 6.1. I forgot the password and need to break it. As per cisco docs i went to monitor mode and given the following details

monitor> interface 0

monitor>address 10.0.0.1

monitor>server 10.0.0.2

monitor>file np61.bin

when i try to ping its not.. my laptop ip , i hv set to 10.0.0.2 and mask is 255.0.0.0

i tried connecting a patch and cross cable b/w pix and laptop and tried interface command on both 0 and 1.

but still its giving error..

plz help to break the password..

thanks and regards

Savad

Re: password recovery

just a quick comment.

verify whether a firewall software is running and blocking the ping and tftp on your laptop.

Re: password recovery

you can't ping your laptop from the pix running in monitor-mode, right? how about the opposite? i.e. from your laptop to the pix.

also, did you give the tftp a go regardless the ping result?
