Permit to URL instead of IP address?

Is it possible in PIX 6.x to permit traffic out based on the destination URL rather than IP address? May be a dumb question...

No, PIX by itself cannot do URL filtering. It can work in conjunction with an external websense server to do URL filtering.

Re: Permit to URL instead of IP address?

Sorry,

Not possible - you can only enter IP addresses or names defined on the firewall itself. So if you need to reach www.randomsite.com, you have to look up an IP address and put it in an access list. If www.randomsite.com changes it's IP, theres no real way to pick that change up, unfortunately.
