Hello, I have an old Pix with 2 MB of Flash, only able to run Pix IOS 5.1.5 I have a single static IP address on my home broadband connection. The PIX wont perform PAT on the single outside address. Here is the snippet:
ip address outside 63.XXX.XXX.190 255.255.255.0
pixfirewall(config)# global (outside) 1 63.XXX.XXX.190
It complains: "Start and end addresses overlap with outside interface address"
The command "global (outside) 1 interface" doesnt seem to be supported in this version.
Any ideas how I can get this PIX to work on a single IP?

Hi,
are you sure that the pix did not accept the 'global' command? Could you do a 'show run' after entering the command and see if the 'global' command is there?
If it is there, then it will probably work and you only got a warning message.
Thanks!!

It definitely doesnt take. One usenet someone directed me to configuer the oustide address w/ the broadcast address and configure the global/PAT address as my real address. That seems to work, but I'm not sure if conduits and IPSec will work now though. Guess I cant have it all.
