PIX 501 problem

Because PIX 501 has four build-in switch ports, one internal and one external ethernet port.

If I set the internal ethernet to be 192.168.1.1/24,

does it mean all the switch ports are in the same subnet 192.168.1.0/24 ?

If no, can I assign different IP addresses in these four switch ports ? If yes, can I assign these addresses in different subnet ?

e.g port 1: 192.168.1.0/24

port 2: 192.168.2.0/24

port 3: 192.168.3.0/24

port 4: 192.168.4.0/24

I haven't seen the 501 first hand yet, but from my understanding the switch ports are standard unmanaged ports with no routing capability built in. You would need routing functionality to have IP addresses from different subnets on each of the ports. So, yes all IP address would have to be in the same subnet.

The 4 switch ports in the Cisco 501 are all part of the same network. In your case, they all belong to network 192.168.1.0/24.
