Pix 515 upgrade to IOS 7.24

I have a pix 515 that was running IOS 6.3 and I just upgraded it to the 7.24 IOS. I followed the steps from the Cisco web and during step 2. where you send the .bin file to flash, I get a "host not found" error. I have done everything I can to get it to see the tftp server and it will not work. Has anyone seen this and got it fixed?

Re: Pix 515 upgrade to IOS 7.24

1. Create PIX Boot helper disk.

Do the following to create Boot helper floppy disk.

(You will need a 3.5 formatted floppy diskette).

For UNIX systems, create the disk using the following command

dd bs=18k /dev/rfd0

For PC systems, use the rawrite.exe utility

Place the following files in the same folder on laptop computer

Double click Rawrite file to execute the file.

Enter source file name: = bh52.bin

destination drive: = a:

2. Setup TFTP server on your laptop PC

3. Assign IP address for your laptop (

4. Store PIX IOS image file (pix523.bin) into TFTP root directory.

5. Use a RJ-45 cross cable for your laptop and PIX connection directly.

6. Before Upgrade PIX IOS, check current PIX activation key and license

use "sh ver" command on PIX firewall.

7. Insert PIX Boot Disk into PIX floppy drive.

8. Power on or boot PIX.

9. Confirm loaded PIX IOS version.

Cisco Secure PIX Firewall Version 5.2(1)

10. Choose "interface 0" for activating PIX FE interface

(this can be 0-5)

pixboothelper> interface 0

current interface is 0
