Hi,
Has anyone ever upgraded a Cisco PIX 515 from version 6.1 to version 7.0?
We have 2 Internet PIX (Failover pair) and 2 Extranet PIX. They need to be upgraded. They all have 64MB of DRAM and 16MB of Flash. The processor is a Pentium 200MHz.
The software licence is UR and they all support a maximum of 6 Interfaces.
If I stick another 64MB of DRAM into each PIX can I then just obtain Version 7 of the Operating System and place it in Flash?
The documentation on CCO is hard to follow especially because it is upgrading from 6.1.
Any help would be great.

6.3 ran fine. 7.x is what kills it.

I have done this. The PIX ran very poorly after the upgrade; CPU 70% or greater. Slow performance etc. The 515e is supposed to be able to handle it but the 515 is a dud where this upgrade path is concerned. I would advise against it.

did you go from 6.1 to 6.3 first? If so how did 6.3 run?
I would say that at least I have to go to version 6.3
