PIX 515

I have a pix 515 with an 4port FE card. I want to have two interfaces on my outside network ,Outside and Outside2. I want to terminate Remote Client VPNS on outside2 and Site site VPNS on Outside. When I try and add an IP address on the same net as Outside I get the following error Sorry, not allowed to enter an IP address on the same network as interface 0. Isn't this config possible? What am I not understanding here??? Thanks in advance.

What IPs are you trying to put in? They can be on the same major net (eg 192.168.1.x), as long as they are on different subnets, otherwise the PIX wouldn't know which interface to send packets out of.

For example:

ip address outside 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.240

ip address outside2 192.168.1.65 255.255.255.192

Hope this helps.

Steve

So the only way for this config to work is to have them on diferent subnets. Correct?

Correct. Although the PIX is not a router, it does have to have each interface on a different network.

Thanks for your help.
