Re: PIX-515E Problem

If the PIX will not boot completely, there is not much you can do besides replacing the unit.

Hi Sorin,

The flash might be corrupted. Try to upload the new PIX OS through rommon

Re: PIX-515E Problem

Hi Sorin,

Could provide you with the link, but I'm pretty sure this will not help you out, cause you would not be able to start this procedure.

Normal PIX boot starts with this:

CISCO SYSTEMS PIX FIREWALL

Embedded BIOS Version 4.3.207 01/02/02 16:12:22.73

Compiled by morlee

32 MB RAM

PCI Device Table.

Bus Dev Func VendID DevID Class Irq

00 00 00 8086 7192 Host Bridge

00 07 00 8086 7110 ISA Bridge

00 07 01 8086 7111 IDE Controller

00 07 02 8086 7112 Serial Bus 9

00 07 03 8086 7113 PCI Bridge

00 0D 00 8086 1209 Ethernet 11

00 0E 00 8086 1209 Ethernet 10

Cisco Secure PIX Firewall BIOS (4.2) #0: Mon Dec 31 08:34:35 PST 2001

Platform PIX-506E

System Flash=E28F640J3 @ 0xfff00000

Use BREAK or ESC to interrupt flash boot.

Use SPACE to begin flash boot immediately.

----------------------------------------------------

The procedure of installing another image would at least have the need to get to the point where the PIX says: "Use BREAK or ESC"

This is the point where the PIX will load it's image from flash if you do not press ESC or BREAK. But you are not getting to that point, so, no procedure is available.

What is happening with your PIX is that it does not get to the initial testing sequence of the device (seems it can not load it's own BIOS or that your Flash SIM's are broke.

Only solution here is indeed, like the other guys allready stated, to exchange your box with a new (replacement) one, or at least exchange the SIM's and see if this works.

Kind Regards,

Leo
