PIX 525 Failover continuously reboots

We have a pair of PIX 525 (v6.2.2) set up as a failover pair with Serial + crossover LAN failover cables providing the conversation between the two, and various other interfaces providing network connectivity (4FE, 2xGig). Whereas we believe this setup was working properly, since upgrading from 6.x to 6.2.2 we now find that the failover PIX is continuously rebooting itself at the same place half-way through downloading its configuration from the Primary device. Licences are OK. We have swapped out the rebooting PIX with another PIX, but the problem persists. The PIX doesn't reboot when run as a standalone device.

Any suggestions appreciated !!!
