pix 535 slots performance comparison for gig card

Hi there

we have installed in our client a pix 535 v7.1(2) w/3 gig cards since cisco suggests slot 0-3 should be used for gig card, we have inserted one of gig card to slower bus slot, is there any way we can compare the throughput thru show commands or do we need a network sniffer to figure out the difference ? this is just to prove that they get what they paid for

Pls advise

TIA

I think either "show interface gig..." or the "show traffic" should provide you with the required information. Because, normally show interface command displays all relevant details of a particular interface.

We use qcheck, a free download tool that can bounce packete between the intergaces. Even though you may have a gig port you will likely not see gig speeds.

I have a 535 with 10/100 ports and only see speeds of 4 or 5 Mbps.

moral, port speed does not necessaryly mean actual thruput !

hey,

we have a 525 with 1x4 nic-card and 2 build-in ports.

We do backup from one nic to another and we have full wirespeed, 100mbit. We have tested the pix and it can handle the specs. on it (used ttcp and iperf)
