PIX 535 vs. Router 3660

Has anyone done a comparison of what would be the tradeoff of terminating VPN connections on a Cisco 3660 Router instead of a PIX 535.

Could the 3660 with an IP/FW/IDS PLUS IPSEC

3DES IOS handle the same load of a PIX 535. We currently have around 160 VPN connections.

Re: PIX 535 vs. Router 3660

it'll depends on what your requirements are. If you need a router, you need routing function, you can't use PIX, PIX can't run routing protocols, static route only. If you need a firewall, PIX 535 will beat 3660 any day. remember, IOS firewall use CBAC, dynamic ACLs (process intensive). they both will handle 160 VPN connection. BUT, for the number of connections you have, PIX 535 is over kill, 525 is plenty, and it will also allow room for growth. If the VPN is what to want, get the PIX.
